A Real Talk with a Real One: Dom Ferraro
This one hit different. In this episode, I sat down with Dom Ferraro—the mastermind behind Papa Presents and the incredibly supportive AI Music Society on Facebook. We dive into everything from the Sony lawsuit against Suno/Udio, to deep personal stuff like mental health, disability, and finding purpose through AI music.
Dom’s Journey: From Breakdown to Breakthrough
Dom opens up about how his life completely shifted in 2017 due to a brain injury and the mental health struggles that followed. At one point, he was close to ending it all. But what pulled him back was a mix of faith and eventually, AI music—a platform that gave him the ability to express things that therapy alone couldn’t fix.
He started writing lyrics like they were pouring out of him. AI tools helped turn those into real songs. That’s when he realized—this wasn’t just music. It was healing.
Building a Safe Space: AI Music Society
If you're part of the AI music scene on Facebook, you’ve probably seen Dom’s group. The AI Music Society is all about meaningful engagement. No spam. No ego. Just sharing, supporting, and learning.
They have daily threads for creators to share their work and others to highlight music they love. This creates organic engagement—something most AI groups are missing.
Dom’s focus? Quality over quantity. He doesn't want 100K members. He wants the right
people who care.
Let’s Talk Lawsuits: Sony vs Suno & Udio
We couldn’t not touch on the hot topic—the Sony lawsuit. While neither of us are lawyers, Dom shared some grounded thoughts about the implications.
👉 It’s not the end of AI music.
👉 Human involvement still matters.
👉 Documentation and originality go a long way.
It’s a wild west out there. But AI music isn’t going away—and lawsuits won’t stop the creativity.
Can You Profit from AI Music?
Short answer: yes. Should you feel bad about it? Absolutely not.
Dom made it clear—he supports people who make music for therapy, self-expression, AND those who are in it to build a brand or income. There's no one “right” reason to create.
So whether you’re doing it for personal healing or professional goals, the door is open. Just walk through it.
The Emotion Behind the Art
What stuck with me the most? The emotional connection Dom has with the music. He listens to his own tracks when he's struggling. Some of it even brought his therapist to tears.
This is what AI music does at its best—it allows people to process grief, trauma, and emotion in a way that’s creative and accessible. That’s what this channel is about too.
Final Thoughts: Keep Creating
This interview reminded me why I started this channel in the first place. It’s about people, stories, and giving creators a space to be heard.
Whether you're making music to heal, to hustle, or just to have fun—you’re welcome here.
Big thanks to Dom for being vulnerable and showing up with honesty and purpose. And to you reading this, keep showing up too. Keep making music. Keep finding meaning.
